Agostino Incorvaia (Augie) opened Augie’s Numero #1 in 1989. For over 20 years Augie’s Numero #1 has been providing home style Italian food in the greater Danbury area. Augie’s Numero # 1 soon became Danbury’s hot spot serving the best authentic Italian food in lower Fairfield County. Over the past 22 years Augie has constantly maintained his reputation for a family friendly environment serving amazing food and sauces.

Augie’s father Angelo was born in Licata, Sicily. In 1957 Angelo embarked on his journey to the United States. Angelo soon began to work in a Pizzeria in Brooklyn, New York. Within 2 years Angelo opened his first pizzeria and the rest is history. Over the years Angelo owned and operated many restaurants. Being raised in the restaurant business it was only natural that Augie followed in his father’s footsteps and became the second generation of restaurateurs.

Augie took the opportunity, ran with it and never looked back. Armed with over 50 years of experience and authentic Sicilian family recipes he is taking it to the next level. Prepared with all of the family recipes, Augie is now bottling the family’s sauce offering it to you to take home. In the Italian kitchen there are 2 main sauces, the Tomato and the Marinara Sauce.

The Marinara Sauce has a garlic flavor that’s best suited for seafood dishes like Clam and Mussels, Four Seasons, Calamari or Shrimp Marinara. We also use the Marinara Sauce for our famous Eggplant Parmigiana dishes for a sweeter taste.
